Shower Trap / Wastes FAQ's
- What Size is a Standard Shower Waste?
2" (50mm) - Buy this if you have a shower tray with a 50mm waste hole. However, large trays or high-flow showers may require a fast flow shower waste to handle increased water output. Our standard options are compatible with most UK shower trays, ensuring a secure, leak free and efficient drainage solution.
- What is a Fast Flow Shower Waste?
Often used with large shower trays, fast flow shower tray waste lets more water drain per minute than standard waste. These wastes typically have a higher drainage rate, for e.g. the Crosswater Waste, can drain water up to 30 litres per minute.
At our online store, we offer a wide variety of fast flow waste and shower trap options that are available in different diameter sizes. Before buying, measure the drain hole diameter in your shower tray to get the right one. The products we offer are perfect for high-pressure showers, preventing water pooling and reducing the risk of tray overflow.
- What causes a blocked shower drain?
Shower drains typically get blocked with hair, especially if someone shaves in the shower. Soap residue coats the hair & gradually reduces the water flow. If you live in a hard water area, it can leave behind mineral deposits in the pipes, which can eventually lead to a blockage. Regular maintenance on any plumbing product helps maintain optimal drainage performance and extends the life of your plumbing.
- Do these wastes clog easily?
It is an unpleasant fact that the shower tray waste does get clogged up. Most of the shower waste or shower trap options we offer are designed with removable tops for quick, hassle-free cleaning and long-term reliability. They are easy to clean; pull off the chrome cap and manually remove any debris. The blockage happens gradually and can sometimes be cleared with a sink plunger. Clean it once a month to prevent total blockages.
