The Geberit Acoustic Insulation set is stylish and extremely useful. It is used for installing a wall-hung WC, or a wall hung Bidet with fixing centres of 180mm or 230mm. The insulation needs trimming after fixing the pan. Designed for convenience, from PE, that is light and flexible, yet extremely sturdy, it comes in a thickness of 6 mm. Answered By Nagpal The name is on the tin - it provides acoustic insulation so that you can flush the toilet in the middle of the night without waking the whole house up. If it were also designed to stop tiles from chipping, maybe Geberit would have added that to the name? Only correct installation of the frame and backing board (e.g. plasterboard) and tiling would prevent tiles from cracking. The issue here is the creation of stress risers, and this would only happen if: a) the frame can still jiggle about when installed b) there are large gaps between the frame and plasterboard that's attached to it c) you use huge amounts of tile cement and have large gaps between the plasterboard and tile.
