janet Asked :Hello, We recently purchased an Armitage shanks Sandringham 21 close-coupled toilet. order number QS-1922386 Pan product code-QS V3525 Cistern product code-QS OP 83584 The toilet cistern is leaking, it has been a slow leak for about 4 weeks. The leak seems to be coming from one of the steel bolts that fix cistern to the toilet pan. The plumber has tried to tighten it and claims quick fix with silicone without removing cistern. I thought there should be a locking nut under cistern that fixes steel bolt to cistern before placing cistern on toilet pan i.e. a nut in between cistern and toilet pan. Is this correct? Alternative would be, bolt passes completely through cistern and toilet pan, and fixes with a single nut under toilet pan which is much less secure. Please advise which type of fitting we were supplied with. Please advise on how to deal with this persistent leak and what we should do if it continues to leak after trying to fix it yet again. If it is a hairline crack what is our next step? Many thanks, Janet Kershaw.
