FAQ's
- What type of Column Radiators does QS Supplies offer?
We at QS Supplies offer water-heated column radiators. These are connected to your central heating system, allowing hot water to flow through the columns, which radiate heat. They heat up faster, but once turned off, they may cool down quicker compared to oil-filled or pre-fill electric radiators. We also stock dual-fuel and electric-only column-style radiators.
- What are dual-fuel radiators?
Dual-fuel radiators can operate using your central heating or your electricity. This means they can be connected to your home's central heating system & have an electric heating element that can be used independently when the central heating is off.
We often recommend dual-fuel radiators to customers who are looking for energy-efficient heating solutions. Most people don't use their central heating system throughout the year. However, there may be chilly days when they want to warm one or two rooms in their homes. Switching their radiator to their home's electricity supply is a far more affordable option than turning on the central heating system.
- What materials are column radiators at QS Supplies made from?
The radiators available at QS Supplies are typically manufactured from aluminium, steel, or mild steel. This makes them durable & long-lasting. They are also available in different finishes, including gloss, matte, sparkling & textured, and in various colours to suit all styles.
- What are the different tube options in column radiators?
The number of tubes refers to the number of columns. Each column is made up of tubes that increase the radiator's surface area. The more tubes, the greater the heat capacity.
At QS Supplies, you can choose from models with between two and six tubes, with six tubes offering the most heat output. We recommend that you consider your heating needs when choosing column radiators for your home. For example, you can choose a radiator with fewer tubes for a smaller room and one with more tubes if you need to heat a larger space.
- Can you mount column radiators vertically and horizontally?
Yes, you can. Depending on your chosen model, you can mount the radiator vertically or horizontally. You can also choose between floor-mounted & wall-mounted options, allowing you to select the option that best suits your space & design preferences.
Use these tips for mounting a radiator:
- A horizontally mounted radiator can make a smaller room look bigger.
- A vertically mounted radiator can add a sense of height to a room.
- Choose a wall-mounted radiator for small rooms, as these models don't take up any floor space.
- Choose a floor-standing radiator for larger rooms.
- Does the column design of radiators improve heating efficiency?
Yes, the column design of radiators available at QS Supplies increases a radiator's surface area. The more surface area, the easier it is for the radiator to heat up & distribute warmth. The gaps between the columns also play a role, as they improve convection. The combination of heat & airflow ensures rooms are heated quickly & efficiently, potentially offering cost savings on your utility bills.
