Jim Asked :
Hit, 2 questions. Do these pumps (Stuart Turner Monsoon Universal 4.5 Bar Twin Shower Pump) require to have hot fed from Surrey flange, or will Tee from vertical HW downflow suffice. What is operating noise from this regenerative pump in use? Thanks

Answered By QS Team :

Below is a link to the installation manual that you will get with the pump. (Installation Link)

The U4.5BT has to be fed via flange or a secondary tapping from the cylinder. If you use a side entry flange or a secondary tapping you will need to have an anti-gravity loop as well.

If the flange is out of the top of the cylinder, you do not have the loop. You will need a manual air vent to release the air at the top of the inlet pipe work before it then drops and enters the pump.

The feed to the hot water cylinder from cold water tank will need to be a minimum of 28mm with this size of pump. The minimum noise from the Monsoon range of pumps is 50 dbA and the maximum is 70dbA. The actual noise of the pump will depend on how it’s installed and also what pressure you are using the pump at. The pressure will be dependent on how much water you are using. The lower the flow, the higher the pressure, the noisier the pump will be.
