An overflow is a small hole or opening at the upper part of a sink, basin, bidet or tub that drains away water upon reaching its level so that no water is spilt. When a basin or bath does not come with this design feature, it is called “without overflow” and will need a compatible drain.

I have bought this basin but not the waste. Does this waste allow you to fill the bowl? What does unslotted/slotted mean? I notice the basin doesn't have an overflow does this mean I cannot have a waste that allows me to fill the basin? Thanks Vicky

Hi Vicky, Thank you for your question about slotted and unslotted basin waste. The waste that you require is dependent on the basin that you choose. A-Basin that has an overflow would allow water to drain out if the sink is blocked or a tap is left open accidentally when the basin is plugged. Basin with an overflow requires a slotted basin waste; otherwise, you require an unslotted basin waste. I hope this answers your query. Regards QS Team
